Spanish gaming group CIRSA has purchased a controlling interest in Paraguayan operator Slots del Sol. The transaction, announced in the wake of the group's July 2025 IPO, establishes the firm’s initial position within Paraguay’s regulated gambling sector.
Operational Expansion and Market Entry
Slots del Sol operates one online platform, two physical casinos and two gaming halls across the country. The purchase provides CIRSA with an immediate omnichannel presence in the region. The Spanish group now maintains operations in seven Latin American territories, adding Paraguay to its existing networks in Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Panama, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.Financial Terms and First Quarter Results
Paraguay’s gambling industry recorded PYG215.9bn (€31.2m) in revenue during 2025, a record level following recent regulatory liberalization. CIRSA has not disclosed the purchase price for the stake. The company will fund the acquisition using existing cash reserves, a structure that leaves its debt levels unchanged.During the first quarter, CIRSA reported net operating revenue of €623m, representing an 8% increase from the previous year. EBITDA reached €193.9m with a 31.1% margin, while net financial debt decreased from €2.64bn to €2.05bn. CEO Antonio Hostench stated that the local operator’s infrastructure will support margin improvements across the online division.
The acquisition occurs twelve months after the group completed its initial public offering on Spanish exchanges in July 2025.
